Tax Season

The IRS announced on Monday, January 7, that it will start processing returns beginning January 28 and will issue refunds on a normal schedule.

A considerable number of IRS employees who were furloughed due to the government shutdown will be called into work. Taxpayers may begin to file their returns and software companies and tax professionals can begin accepting and prepare returns before January 28, however, they must wait to submit until the systems are open.

More information regarding the IRS filing season will be included in an updated FY2019 Lapsed Appropriations Contingency Plan.

MCB is staying on-top of these developments and will release new information regarding the 2018 tax season as it becomes available.
